My engineering life has been pretty unique this past few weeks. While my official work title is Manufacturing Engineer, my education was mainly Mechanical Engineering. I was lucky to find a job that lets me do both. My responsibilities as a Mfg. Eng. are to analyze new potential products and define whether they are feasible … Continue reading Customizable Engineering
I might not be as good speaking Spanish as I was before I left Mexico, but I will never forget how to speak it. Neither will I be ashamed. Why would I? By being bilingual, I can understand twice as many things. I can also talk to many more people than I could if I … Continue reading I will never stop speaking Spanish.
When I picked engineering, I wasn’t sure if I could make it. The thought of not being smart enough governed my mind for about 80% of my 5 years in school. I should have believed in myself a little more. After all, I graduated. I finally had made it. Today, I proudly say I am … Continue reading Not validating yourself.

ENGLISH I just had to do this. While it is the cheesiest title, it is appropriate. While I am very supportive of spreading the interest in STEM, I don’t believe that raising awareness of STEM careers or creating STEM focused events is the only way to get young female students interested. Today, lets talk about getting our hands dirty. If there is one thing that makes my job interesting, is being able to take a break from my desk and see how we manufacture our products. Sometimes, I just watch. Sometimes, I try to help where I can. I have been slowly learning how to use some of the machines at work. This exposure really comes in handy when we get defects so that I can relate it back to something I might have seen.
ENGLISH I know what you are thinking... Engineering Couture??? Let me explain. One of the most important things for me is dressing well. If I am dressed well, I feel confident. ENGLISH As a young engineer I have received tons of advice from fellow coworkers and engineers. I am very grateful for all the help I have always received. However, there is one set of advice that stood up from the rest. While being an intern, I was told that a good engineer should be able … Continue reading What exactly is good engineering?
When I was younger, I never really knew what I wanted my career to be. When people would ask me what I wanted to be, I never had a solid answer. You would think that I would have said: "A princess!" or "A doctor!" at some point. But truly, I never actually knew. I was … Continue reading Why Engineering?
Today I though I would share a small story. As you can tell by the colors of my blog, I love pink! I know it is a very girly color, but there is so much taboo around that color. There are men that don't like to wear pink because they think it is girly, there … Continue reading I can be anything a man can be, but in pink.
